Photography and history

A year ago at a coffee house show, shot with a meterless camera.
At the time I wrote the last entry, I was as it turns out running up against the end of a relationship or three, and subliminally aware of that. I'd stopped taking pictures of models, as I had no time, and was occupying my photographic sense with essentially family snapshots of my then-girlfriend and her kids.

Since then, the relationship died, I upgraded cameras twice, partnered with a talent agency for a few months and got used to studio shooting, bought pro lighting, gave up the partnership, continued shooting models, shot three or four weddings, did some pet and pregnancy photography, had two new jobs in my day-job-workplace, and spent over a year fruitlessly looking for that perfect studio building to purchase.

If you're interested to see what I've done since August 2004, you can view photos and links at blankphotography.com. I've intentionally left this site fallow as a testament to the danger of putting your eggs in the wrong basket.

Thanks for your attention!

Cheers,
S.

Explanations

I have been shooting consistently through the past few months, although you'd never know it by looking here. Why not? Because I've slipped out of the habit of uploading my pictures.

It's a horrible admission. One drawn in part because I liked uploading from work, but they withdrew unhindered net access a few months ago. Sigh. The other part is just a general transfer of energy in other directions. Or attempted transfer. Anyway, I ain't got none. But I'm still shooting and maybe that's going to spur me to put up a real website one of these days? Maybe?

Prefab is fine but fab is better.

This is the part from 5/29, culminating in the easiest high point ever, and followed by the climbing of a ranger tower and stuff. Afterwards, we drove a couple torturous hours, finally settling into a hotel room where the kids finally started to behave -- by sleeping.

Hi!, very nice your fotopage.I hope your visit in my fotopage. I from brazil! Sat 19-Jun-2004 00:36

Jackie, and then Henry, played soccer last Saturday. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was the only time I've seen them play soccer so I'll stick with the best of times.

Gosh, you'd think I'd say his name, right? Nope. It's too uncommon. Anyway, here are some pictures of his party guests.

Ann and the kids and I went to Nebraska City 5/1 to visit my friend James (pictured with the Gentle gang) and his peeps down there. These pictures are from a nice walk we took at Arbor Day Farm.

Wow! Those are really great. I love that shot "Bruddas."
And the Jack Attack. And the look on Henry's face during "One, two, three." And the Dancing Matador....so, so, good.

We had a lovely lunch as usual. Seven, count 'em, seven male children between Ann's and their kids'! And there were no major injuries. Yay. And no pictures of me. Yaay!

Return to Guadalupe, 4/9. Second-to-last stop on trip before long road home. This is Walgreens-scanned film, by the way, as opposed to digital like the rest of the pictures.
